Rick McConnell is president of Hanley Wood Exhibitions, one of the four operating platforms of Hanley Wood, the premier media, information, and marketing services company serving the residential and commercial design and construction industry.

As president, McConnell manages the growth of and establishes the strategic direction for 13 industry-leading trade shows each year, four of which are included on the Tradeshow Week 200 list of the largest events in the country. Among those is World of Concrete, which ranks in Tradeshow Week’s top 20. Prior to assuming the role of president in 2009, McConnell managed four of the platform’s events, and oversaw all trade show marketing and sales efforts.

McConnell has a long history in the exhibitions industry. Before joining Hanley Wood, McConnell was vice president of show-management firm Miller Freeman’s apparel group, which produced two shows and corresponding magazines. He also served as show director for the firm’s 7,000-exhibit ASD/AMD Show and the Las Vegas Gift Expo. McConnell also directed sales for MAGIC International, one of the largest apparel-industry events in North America.

McConnell is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University and holds an MBA from the University of Arkansas.
