Greenbuild Conference to Shine a Spotlight on Multifamily
Carl Seville / MULTIFAMILY EXECUTIVE / August 30, 2013
Multifamily professionals have an excellent opportunity to learn how to incorporate green building principles in their projects at the 2013 GreenBuild Expo November 20-22.
A key feature of this year’s conference is the two-day Affordable Housing Summit. The affordable housing industry has been at the vanguard of the green movement for many years, way ahead of its market-rate brethren. But as more sectors of the multifamily industry seek certification, developers and contractors can learn from the experiences of other professionals in this series of eight targeted seminars.
Several main conference sessions of particular interest to the industry include:
Insights on Multifamily Benchmarking from EPA and Fannie Mae: A long-time common practice in commercial buildings, benchmarking through the Energy Star portfolio manager is in the process of being adapted to multifamily housing. Future high-rise LEED for Homes projects will be required to use portfolio manager, so the time to learn about this important industry development is now.
Developers Speak: Effective and Successful Green Multifamily: Representatives from AMLI and the Dinerstein Companies will discuss how they have cracked the code on cost-effective multifamily development. They will provide insight into how they build green, challenges they have overcome, and how green certification assists in funding and improves long-term property value.
