Virtual Tour Showcases Affordable, Resilient and Sustainable Design
Washington, D.C. (October 9, 2014) – Hanley Wood announces the launch of the Greenbuild LivingHome website and virtual tour, at http://livinghome.greenbuildexpo.com. In addition to the website, the home will be featured on the floor at the 2014 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in New Orleans, October 22-23 at booth 1139. The home was created in partnership with LivingHomes®, Make It Right and the Cradle to Cradle® Products Innovation Institute, and will be permanently placed in the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans after the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo.
The Greenbuild LivingHome, designed and developed by LivingHomes, features market-ready and replicable design innovations, modular construction systems and a wide range of certified products selected to meet advanced performance criteria for energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, durability, and materials and resource attributes. It is ENERGY STAR® v3 Certified and has been designed to meet LEED® for Home v4 Platinum requirements. In addition, it achieves several of LivingHomes’ Z6 environmental goals, includes a wide range of Cradle to Cradle certified products, and integrates many of the new International WELL Building Institute certification guidelines.
The Greenbuild LivingHome virtual tour showcases the LivingHomes design, which integrates features that contribute to the home’s energy performance, health and sustainability and—in concert with Make It Right’s own site-specific requirements—provides safe and resilient shelter for its occupants. By incorporating stringent standards for sustainability and performance into everything—from the home’s overall design to each material and product selected for use—this unique concept home offers a full range of takeaway ideas that can be adapted to projects of all kinds.
“The Greenbuild LivingHome project has it all,” said Rick Schwolsky, director of executive programs for Hanley Wood and the show home's project manager. “Our amazing design team set extremely high performance, health, and sustainability standards. They used a collection of products that had to pass through a very rigorous selection process. And they delivered on the ultimate mission—to provide a LEED Platinum, Cradle to Cradle–inspired home for Make It Right to add to its Katrina recovery project in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward.”
“The Greenbuild LivingHome was actually based on the CK5 line of LivingHomes, so in addition to showcasing some of the best-in-class materials and technology at Greenbuild, home buyers and developers will be able to purchase these LivingHomes through us,” said Steve Glenn, CEO of LivingHomes.
