WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 4, 2013) – Hanley Wood LLC, the premier media and information company serving the housing and construction industries, announced today the appointment of Katie Weeks as editor-in-chief of ECOBUILDING Network. She will oversee ECOHOME and ECOSTRUCTURE magazines, as well as their online component, ecobuildingpulse.com.
Weeks joined Hanley Wood in 2009 and most recently served as editor-in-chief of ECOSTRUCTURE magazine. She will continue to report to Ned Cramer, editorial director. Prior to joining Hanley Wood, she was a senior editor at Contract magazine where she focused on commercial interior design.

Rick Schwolsky, who was the founding editor of ECOHOME, is retiring, but will remain on as Editor-at-Large. During his time at the magazine, Schwolsky established and guided the magazine’s editorial mission in covering residential environmental building and sustainability, and created and led the year-long Vision 2020 Research Initiative.
He also administered The Hanley Award for Vision and Leadership in Sustainable Housing, the largest annual award program for sustainability that includes a $50,000 grant. In his new role as editor-at-large, he will continue to lead these two programs.
Schwolsky earlier served as editor-in-chief of Tools of the Trade and El Nuevo Constructor magazines, as construction editor for BUILDER magazine, and as Hanley Wood’s project manager for The New American Home and the company’s show homes built as part of the International Builders’ Show. Prior to joining the company in 1993, he spent 20 years as a custom home builder, retiring as president of Grafton Builders in Vermont.
