ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING Wins Two Honorable Mentions at 2013 FAME Awards

Washington, D.C., April 18, 2013 – ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING (AL) magazine received two Honorable Mention awards at the recently celebrated 2013 Fame Awards held by FOLIO: and min (Media Industry Newsletter).

The two awards for Honorable Mention were for ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING’S 25th Anniversary Celebration in the categories of Best Special Event and Best Overall Single Event in the B-to-B.

FOLIO: & min celebrated the best of the best in magazine media events on March 12 at the 2013 FAME Awards breakfast in New York City. Media executives gathered at the Grand Hyatt to honor the work of their colleagues and peers and share best practices and lessons learned in the media event space.

ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, held on December 8, 2011, at Jack Studios was themed “The Future of Lighting,” with Pecha Kucha-style presentations by prominent lighting designers and lighting industry leaders. Pecha Kucha rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds.

“Architectural Lighting’s 25th Anniversary was an important milestone, not just for the publication, but for the lighting industry,” says Elizabeth Donoff, Editor of ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING magazine. “It was important that we celebrate by offering the lighting community something that they hadn’t experienced before. We challenged lighting designers and lighting manufacturers to envision “The Future of Lighting.” The result was a series of dynamic manufacturer installations and designers’ Pecha Kucha-style presentations that embraced the theme, bringing all facets of lighting together- design, research, technology, and fabrication. It was an inspiring, idea-filled evening for everyone.”

“The complexity and beauty of this event was apparent to all who attended,” said Mike Bendickson, director of events for Hanley Wood. “The editorial vision for the event was to give manufacturers a blank canvas to work with (in this case it was a cube of space) and the manufacturers outdid themselves.
