The honorees—a national builder and a regional start-up—both significantly boosted their closings in a recovering marketplace.
Builder magazine honored The Ryland Group and Saint Aubyn Homes on Tuesday as the fastest-growing public and private home builders in the country, respectively, during its annual BUILDER 100 awards dinner in Scottsdale, Ariz. Dan Ryan Builders expected to close 650 homes in 2012. It ended up closing 731, thanks in part to its expansions into the Pittsburgh and Greenville, S.C., markets. The Frederick, Md.–based company also bolstered its workforce hiring about 45 people last year, including new vice presidents of production and sales and marketing. It even enjoyed a little price appreciation in its home sales.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 13, 2013) — BUILDER, the leading media brand in residential construction, this week unveiled the BUILDER 100, its annual ranking of the 100 largest home building companies. D.R. Horton topped the list for the 11th consecutive year.
